PRE-ASSESSING
LEARNING TO USE OUR BODIES

       

STUDENTS LEARN simple stretches that use relevé, contract and release, balance, counterbalance, stationary and locomotor movement. We model these movements and, through repetition, the students begin to embody these skills.

WE LEAD STUDENTS through introductory stretching exercises; they become keenly aware of personal and shared space. The initial warm-up challenges students to work outside of their comfort zone as they struggle to focus and replicate movements.
