Audience/Performance Activity
A dance activity that applies skills and knowledge through the creation of improvised dance, to create dance movements, and to demonstrate good audience behavior.
step 1

Split students into groups of performers and audience based on class size.
Turn music on. Performers “free” dance incorporating elements of dance into their movements. Coach the performers to allow the music to inform the way they move.
step 2

While performance group is dancing, the audience group marks each type of movement they observe.
step 3

Before the music stops, ask performance group to enter their final pose and freeze. The audience shares their movement observations with the group.
