This is a variation of the Rhythm Echo Game.
Trading Fours
step 1
Begin by having the class sit in a circle and tap the beat on his/her leg. Keep the beat at a slow steady tempo/speed.
step 2
Once everyone is tapping at the same tempo, the teacher claps a different 4-count pattern over the tapping.
step 3
When the teacher is done, he/she returns to tapping the beat with the rest of the group and lets a student volunteer to tap out a different 4-count rhythm pattern while the rest of the group continues patting the beat. Continue until each student has had a turn to make a 4-count rhythm pattern.
